I have been to countless amounts of craft fairs, whenever we are away I search for little artisan shops to spend my pennies on. I truly do think there is something just a little more magical when an item has been created from someones own hands and heart.<br />

That being said, I have seen a lot of different crafts but when artist Lesley Munnings bought her baubles into The Enchanted Boutique for the first time, I was literally amazed! I have never seen anything even close to what her baubles are like. They are truly enchanting and no photograph could do them justice (though I have tried to take some nice ones!) The detail and the intricacy of the designs are stunning, there is so much to see in each one that you could get lost inside them daydreaming the day away.<br />

This year was the first year that we got 'proffessionally' involved in Pirate Weekend. Moby and Puddle's Enchanted Boutique got right in the spirit of the occasion and even entered the Best Dressed Business Competition and although we were beaten by the fantastic Roly's Fudge, it was a brilliant chance to practise window dressing! <br />

Each peg doll has an enormous amount of hand painted detail, making every one a teeny piece of artwork and a treasure to behold. Each one also comes in a pretty little organza bag or a very cute little sock, a brilliant idea for storing your goodies in my opinion! </div>

Thank you so much to all of the wonderful people that have come through the door this week, it has been wonderful to meet fairy fans of all ages! Thank you to all of the other businesses in the shopping arcade too for making me feel so welcome already! <br />
<br />
You can see my shop and all of the other wonderful treasures on the website <a href="http://www.thehousethatjackbuilt.org.uk/" target="_blank">The House That Jack Built </a>but do come and see us in person if you get the chance because the grotto is magical in person.<br />
<br />
I have also managed to squeeze in a book reading of The Tales Of The Enchanted Cornlings which the children really seemed to enjoy. Thank you to the lovely NetMums Meet Up for inviting me! This is Ruby with my giant Cornling, Callie. They really got on well!<br />

The first week has been fantastic and I cannot wait to open for the second week to begin!<br />

I have been very brave and entered the <a href="http://www.visitplymouth.co.uk/whats-on/plymouth-pirate-weekend-p1365003" target="_blank">Plymouth Pirate Weekend</a>, Best Dressed Window Competition, so fingers and hooks crossed that we can make it fabulous! To make it extra special we have a mermaid visiting from the depths of the ocean for one weekend only!<br />

Moby and Puddle's Enchanted Boutique is OPEN! xxxSunday 1st May 2016, I opened the door to Moby and Puddle's Enchanted Boutique to the public for the first time ever! I can't begin to explain just how nervous I was that so many of my lovely friends and family would see my work, or even worse, that no one would show up! I was bouncing with excitement and the first person through the door was my lovely Harrison running in with a balloon that he had only a few moments before run out of the shop with!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_8adCTFV3CdhF23gF3x6eGTJMkAShgIBtBxk9lxnTCA0xZFvBRkdh7lb2kYK1vXt8maSYYNuZ147OGTZuqfaQ7kNuyn-sht34E4Nwg6YhCIEOL9G-47oSOl6gzOBd_kpNwPpJD_XK6nY/s1600/WFP_9155.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_8adCTFV3CdhF23gF3x6eGTJMkAShgIBtBxk9lxnTCA0xZFvBRkdh7lb2kYK1vXt8maSYYNuZ147OGTZuqfaQ7kNuyn-sht34E4Nwg6YhCIEOL9G-47oSOl6gzOBd_kpNwPpJD_XK6nY/s640/WFP_9155.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Harrison was followed by lots of familiar faces who had all come down on a Sunday morning to show their support. I was overwhelmed with the support and just hope that everyone who came knows just how much I appreciate it and how touched I was! I hope that they liked the yummy cakes too!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvf-O-_TJleRWXaxnKyWXq2hlUuOrQoOPjA0J4ZUwCWM1McXKWzjty1-l26oMy_hByBRmq0fhf7hs9qWyU5BD6YCueXIMFrI8l05SETtEz0kekKP8_fRnHOTJsmMrDW9EjTyZx3XRFuNE/s1600/WFP_9180.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvf-O-_TJleRWXaxnKyWXq2hlUuOrQoOPjA0J4ZUwCWM1McXKWzjty1-l26oMy_hByBRmq0fhf7hs9qWyU5BD6YCueXIMFrI8l05SETtEz0kekKP8_fRnHOTJsmMrDW9EjTyZx3XRFuNE/s400/WFP_9180.jpg" width="266" /></a></div>
It was an absolute pleasure to see so many people in my little shop! My first ever sale was a framed mermaid ....<br />

I could of literally jumped for joy at making a sale and lots came after that too!<br />

We had the pleasure of the fantastic <a href="https://www.facebook.com/LydiasFacePainting/?fref=ts" target="_blank">Lydia's Face Painting And Glitter Tattoos</a>, painting the children who happily skipped through the door. The face painting was beautiful, both children and adults were amazed at the intricate designs! Perfect for our enchanted opening!<br />

I can honestly say that I don't think that the opening could have gone any better at all! I got to meet some friends who have been part of my little online family, for the first time!<br />

<br />
I got to see some old friends who made long journeys to show their support and local friends who braved the weather. Everyone seemed to love the selection of items available from the amazing UK artists (which I will be featuring on my blog soon) and by the end of the day I still had a massive smile on my face! And the cherry on the top was my baby sister bringing my a huge bunch of flowers to say congratulations! Thank you Kerry! <br />

In honour of Earth Day and because the sun was shining, my husband, daughter and I decided to head to one of our favourite places, the beach! We headed over to Cornwall and towards Whitsand Bay, we usually go to Sharrow but unfortunately the bad weather lately has made it too dangerous to reach. We decided to explore Tregantle instead. We are incredibly lucky to have so much natural beauty nearby!<br />
<br />
We walked down the trail from car park to the beach and the scenery is absolutely stunning! The beach was quiet and the sea was calm. You couldn't wish for a more serene environment.<br />
<br />

I recently discovered (via #Lego) on Instagram, an artist named Michelle Costello who is also based in this part of the world, <a href="https://www.instagram.com/smartie_lids_on_the_beach/" target="_blank">Smartie Lids On The Beach</a> is an amazing project that helps to clean up the beaches.<br />
<br />
I am not sure if it is because I never took the time to notice it on other beaches or if it is because I have not been to Tregantle before, but I noticed so much plastic washed up on the beach. It was literally scattered with all kinds of plastic that is harmful to the environment and the wildlife. Perhaps it is the influence of <a href="https://www.facebook.com/Smartie-Lids-On-The-Beach-715721788522466/" target="_blank">Smartie-Lids-On-The-Beach</a> that has opened my eyes to the sheer amount of plastic that is just ignored and discarded on our beaches?<br />
<br />
We literally found a rainbow of plastic just from a very short 10 min walk from the foot of the pathway to where we placed our blanket.<br />
<br />

Please take a look at Michelle's wonderful work, I have added links to both instagram and facebook for you to click on. It is an eye opener and it is inspirational. We were just playing and of course we took all of the plastic, that we picked up, home to be recycled. Our little way of thanking the Earth for all that it gives us!<br />

<br />
My Webblings have a St Georges Day project to do for next Friday and as I have been super busy getting the Enchanted Boutique ready so I needed a quick project that they could have fun with but wouldn't take a long time (or cost much, total cost was £5.00). The Webblings have decided they want to be dragons (the outfits will take longer than 5 minutes I am sure!!!) so they decided to make Dragon Eggs for their school projects. You can create these in under 5 mins but they need to dry overnight so don't start them just before the kids go to school! <br />
<br />
I managed to get some plastic eggs (Frozen and Star Wars, other plastic egg varieties are available I am sure, haha) from the sweetie aisle and some glitter glue (paint would just flake off), star confetti and little pearl gems.<br />
<br />

<br />
The best bit about this project is that the Webblings got to do the whole things themselves too, it was short enough to keep Harrison's attention and sparkly enough to get Lilly really excited! Other than giving instructions I did nothing to help them with this project, they have a real sense of pride and ownership of their eggs that they wouldn't have had if I had made them for them! They are so pretty too. It is a bit messy but not too badly and doesn't take up lots of space.<br />
<br />
If you decide to let your little ones make them please post a picture, I would love to see more!<br />

We got the keys to our lovely little shop today and moved lots and lots of flat pack furniture in. It is overwhelmingly exciting and the start of a brand new chapter in our stories! The children love the whole space and they were as hyper as me and Mr Webb! We put a make do display together that will hopefully wet peoples appetites and show them a little of what will be on offer. We also left signs saying when we will be opening (1st May) so hopefully we will get lots of lovely visitors! </div>

For the last four years my logo has been these two lovely little owls, I am really emotionally attatched to them. I never dreamt that Moby and Puddle would one day become my full time job and that these little owls would come to mean such a lot to me. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhitaWXR6SnS5vRY_AYPsDkFkgTXynkDHve5WXFK7V57aaryk5OynALPdmBku2x3757IVNq2lt1JbIPyx6jz5wN2MpOq4omkgPFkb2dT9ZCHtep7G__Te66uyqMBioPmFs0fg-kf4enDK0/s1600/moby+and+puddle+blank+logo.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="203" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhitaWXR6SnS5vRY_AYPsDkFkgTXynkDHve5WXFK7V57aaryk5OynALPdmBku2x3757IVNq2lt1JbIPyx6jz5wN2MpOq4omkgPFkb2dT9ZCHtep7G__Te66uyqMBioPmFs0fg-kf4enDK0/s320/moby+and+puddle+blank+logo.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
However, I am starting a new chapter in my life and a new adventure for Moby and Puddle, so the decision has been made to rebrand my business and to have a logo that is more representative of my brand and my new shop too. I have sketched and sketched and sketched to get a design that I can get excited about and I have finally found designed one that I love ...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I have very exciting news ...<br />
<br />
On the 8th March I put a deposit on a real bricks and mortar shop. I have dreamt of having my own little shop for so long and with dwindling views on social media making my online sales drop, I think that a new adventure is exactly what Moby and Puddle needs. I aim to blog my journey as I go! <br />
<br />
I was not looking for a shop really but a friend posted a link from gumtree on Facebook. I have been a big fan of The House That Jack Built since my first trip to the Barbican around 10 years ago. They have a walkway with a magic tree, a dragon, elves and a fountain etc, could you imagine a more perfect place for Moby and Puddle? I had to try and get the shop of my dreams.<br />
<br />
We are not well off, I'm not sure you can be when you have two children and a Lego addicted husband but we scraped the deposit together, applied and I was delighted when I heard back from the landlady to talk about my work and my plans for the shop.<br />
<br />
I have to say a massive thank you to Lizzie from <a href="http://www.makeat140.co.uk/" target="_blank">Make@140 Vauxhall Street</a> who I have had the pleasure of knowing for many years now thanks to my daughters love of buttons and our trips to the fantastic Funky Poppy. Lizzie encouraged me to go for the shop and not to hesitate if it was what I really wanted, she answered a tonne of questions for me and helped make the decision easier. Lizzie you are fantastic!<br />
<br />
I visited the space and had a very warm welcome from the existing tenants <a href="https://www.facebook.com/PinnacleArtsandCrafts/?fref=ts" target="_blank">Pinnacle Arts And Crafts</a> who showed me around, gave me loads of helpful tips and information. I fell in love with the space and could already start imagining how it would look! I put the deposit down then and there.<br />
<br />
I plan to exhibit not only my own creations but handmade whimsical and fantastic makes from artists all over the UK too. It will be a great little place to come and forget the darkness in the world if only for a little while. <br />
<br />
I will get the keys soon and start moving in, ready for the grand opening on 1st May 2016.<br />
<br />
I am so excited and will have lots of updates in the weeks ahead including new branding for Moby and Puddle. I hope that you will enjoy the journey with me and that I see lots of you in my new shop too xxxAnonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08560461508814426314noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2337187063704022806.post-2479225661632585632016-03-21T07:30:00.001-07:002016-03-21T07:32:02.506-07:00Hobbycraft Make & Bake Clay Review <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
I was given a packet of Hobbycraft Make and Bake Clay in a very beautiful bright pink colour. I am very much a Fimo girl but I thought that I would give it a try and see how it went. This is just a quick review of my own experience with it and my own opinions only. As I have already said the colour is absolutely gorgeous!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0IKMPLlSuAqD4KCDNKqaUOh3X4mM78h6fgBsnwxGD4bmEssaHbTUML_sThwSXNX18iF7UnWq0E1sfDCZBf68QD346RzDUJ5WZ5twvcJJCLXzKA9Ah6aW-QpBtUNnWLmYZT-GCOYRaa80/s1600/12873539_10153882047921047_944203133_o.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0IKMPLlSuAqD4KCDNKqaUOh3X4mM78h6fgBsnwxGD4bmEssaHbTUML_sThwSXNX18iF7UnWq0E1sfDCZBf68QD346RzDUJ5WZ5twvcJJCLXzKA9Ah6aW-QpBtUNnWLmYZT-GCOYRaa80/s320/12873539_10153882047921047_944203133_o.jpg" width="179" /></a></div>
The packaging was a nightmare to get off, I rarely use more than a little bit of clay at one time and always rewrap in the original packaging before storing in bags, there was no way to open this plastic without ripping it unfortunately.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3U1d4nFnhTiY43mYQtkOVOt5Y9Hfko-XZK5ieaU8uUAYBaeBZT5dJ01MLsTbmYbXMJbyd339juh8-24mO0R81G-Gheph-OxIVx_yXnGXopgFKHtj9AEoCYCzIyh_KgicgsywZT3zSedc/s1600/12499538_10153882047756047_485076847_o.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3U1d4nFnhTiY43mYQtkOVOt5Y9Hfko-XZK5ieaU8uUAYBaeBZT5dJ01MLsTbmYbXMJbyd339juh8-24mO0R81G-Gheph-OxIVx_yXnGXopgFKHtj9AEoCYCzIyh_KgicgsywZT3zSedc/s320/12499538_10153882047756047_485076847_o.jpg" width="179" /></a></div>
I ripped off a chunk and it was very crumbly considering how soft the clay was. It had a very playdoughy texture rather than polymer clay.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjaDmpFUPJLxObeBq2bmuUCxS2VSJAcb8skNdlIQ7Mk_OnRVUgXeravIVQ62J9ebb8WRxrOutQPfA7BxhrZGoFpvVGSgnooSoJpx2JlXCf8ECqZY9_wLfSNfeNt9FwP2EEiffywL70ww1E/s1600/12894597_10153882047681047_256047667_o.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjaDmpFUPJLxObeBq2bmuUCxS2VSJAcb8skNdlIQ7Mk_OnRVUgXeravIVQ62J9ebb8WRxrOutQPfA7BxhrZGoFpvVGSgnooSoJpx2JlXCf8ECqZY9_wLfSNfeNt9FwP2EEiffywL70ww1E/s320/12894597_10153882047681047_256047667_o.jpg" width="179" /></a></div>
It has an oily feeling to it but this made it very easily mouldable and it needed very little conditioning to get it into a small ball.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYtqWs3e8_Yir_2idPA8h2rMFK6J-qntwtlHnXrncy_m7KYrgAP4rZVxu0qvmM2G-KYOjOaWSno8njGtn6yVrtv518HSO76HIpGN5qbm5-S7TZrur9nJtPEvVoCzYMG29x9IncM5sRSyA/s1600/12722768_10153882047596047_848438803_o.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYtqWs3e8_Yir_2idPA8h2rMFK6J-qntwtlHnXrncy_m7KYrgAP4rZVxu0qvmM2G-KYOjOaWSno8njGtn6yVrtv518HSO76HIpGN5qbm5-S7TZrur9nJtPEvVoCzYMG29x9IncM5sRSyA/s320/12722768_10153882047596047_848438803_o.jpg" width="179" /></a></div>
It worked really great with cutters, they came out very clean cut around the edges. However it was more difficult to sculpt anything with my hands, it was very soft and picked up every little print.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhQxiJYQ-INiJvHHi2fUNOp00GWVJ0LgsJ7ixtQfiD5BadvZWWZ5ONi8U1Hfq7HQ74_mccNAwrT4SYZ7rzondmauL5PUMSSWoDL204Y67M-wButzoWpDULiHJC1I_vkBcb7kJGgEicigg/s1600/12722401_10153882047511047_968333964_o.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="179" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhQxiJYQ-INiJvHHi2fUNOp00GWVJ0LgsJ7ixtQfiD5BadvZWWZ5ONi8U1Hfq7HQ74_mccNAwrT4SYZ7rzondmauL5PUMSSWoDL204Y67M-wButzoWpDULiHJC1I_vkBcb7kJGgEicigg/s320/12722401_10153882047511047_968333964_o.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
I managed to combine the hearts into one and the clay blends really well, possibly because of the oily texture too. It is more shiny than matte and feels sticky to the touch even when left for a little while.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjytVFHC2H-k5TSywD65yD0nvYCyZ9AVxIxNLAiBxxr1HkwmRicI1L7Etix5ihyQY6xriyituClURv3RXpYAe0t_u9xCjWqgDf1NXzr4_NHhA0M6wKsmMn_nQpAw17YbxyiE7ImofjB3wU/s1600/12874370_10153882047376047_1297506617_o.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="179" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjytVFHC2H-k5TSywD65yD0nvYCyZ9AVxIxNLAiBxxr1HkwmRicI1L7Etix5ihyQY6xriyituClURv3RXpYAe0t_u9xCjWqgDf1NXzr4_NHhA0M6wKsmMn_nQpAw17YbxyiE7ImofjB3wU/s320/12874370_10153882047376047_1297506617_o.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Putting a head pin into the unbaked clay was difficult, it went through the clay easily, maybe a little too easy though because it distorted the bottom of the heart where it was pushed in and I had to resculpt the shape a little.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjI9V3ciZPlVMKTnsSIIrfYD5HHlouqAv9c67UOsphBs3Eln2NRYcJmNM6d0XoPUzmeclELnqmnuV3BZ17efHgegzcnYOC4RttPyztvcJKD_7UJflbZEFfMr9KHVcEgUBCxgM8HBuGM7kY/s1600/12443101_10153882047231047_1895525915_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjI9V3ciZPlVMKTnsSIIrfYD5HHlouqAv9c67UOsphBs3Eln2NRYcJmNM6d0XoPUzmeclELnqmnuV3BZ17efHgegzcnYOC4RttPyztvcJKD_7UJflbZEFfMr9KHVcEgUBCxgM8HBuGM7kY/s320/12443101_10153882047231047_1895525915_n.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
I baked as per the instructions and this little heart charm is the end result. Once baked the clay still has a shine without having any varnish on it at all. It seems very hard and would be hard wearing too. I am impressed with the final result.<br />
<br />
I don't think that I would be happy to use this full time for my orders because it is too soft to be able to sculpt any significant details into and I was not fond of the slippery, oily texture of the unbaked clay. However for little charms like this I think that it is a great price per packet and I would definitely buy it for my children to save my Fimo clay for my work. It comes out in a beautiful finish which is essentially the most important thing. I am now hoping that I can store it in my poly bags without it affecting the clay since the original packaging had to be binned.<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: small;">These are the Eggsberts, they are
very shy, very rare creatures only found in the top secret Easter
Chocory where the Easter Bunny is head of operations. Eggsberts are the
expert egg testers, they have all sorts of different ways to test the
eggs, from jumping on the top of the eggs to test the strength to
rolling them down hills to test the shape. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: small;"> They are easily
recognisable by their egg shaped uniforms and there colourful beards.
They are much smaller than the bunnies and the chicks that work
alongside them in the Chocory and like to sleep in the basket room. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: small;">
If you would like an Eggsbert to help you test the eggs on Easter
morning please let me know. I have managed to find three that would like
to relocate but I could ask if anymore would like to have semi

<span style="font-size: small;">Moby and Puddle was founded upon whimsy and fairytale, in the last year I have lost sight of why I started making my characters, I wanted to tell stories! It cannot be a coincidence that my sales have dropped in recent months despite the quality of my work improving. I stopped giving my creations stories, characters and personality. I have updated my business plan and the whimsy is coming back, the stories will be fresh and alive once more. I feel that Moby and Puddle has reached a new point and from here on will be get better and better. Thank you for sticking with me! Love Samantha xxx </span></div>

<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
It was raining and drizzling but we don't let the weather get us down, we put on wellies, hats and gloves. Warm and cosy we drove to the zoo which is very well sign posted from the A38. We found it easily and parked in the car park which was almost empty. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjApwqJLPgbqikiXGUi3CQntbarIm7rfC3LcsIHIzqsSYzubyrkd1CLbHrqZEG7eTVcn_2vGbvjNbxxODC9Gf9cRJ8DIaq8kDkvi9YfN4KIe_zT82Zj76xfYBUzSlvaQW_vuzXwy5HFtgs/s1600/12717700_10153730246270020_2941308136691181045_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjApwqJLPgbqikiXGUi3CQntbarIm7rfC3LcsIHIzqsSYzubyrkd1CLbHrqZEG7eTVcn_2vGbvjNbxxODC9Gf9cRJ8DIaq8kDkvi9YfN4KIe_zT82Zj76xfYBUzSlvaQW_vuzXwy5HFtgs/s320/12717700_10153730246270020_2941308136691181045_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
We walked up the hill from the pay station to the main part of the zoo which was a bit steep, however there are beautiful capybara animals for the children to see on the way up so it wasn't too bad. </div>
<div>
Harrison thought they were giant hamsters. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The main part of the zoo starts with absolutely adorable meerkats. They were running all over the place and having a great time. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKZGWceMt5m7UGOlKzLbVeDpfEr5WUbzPf3OiOtX0SKIv_Ol5X47ST0Xq3FmLMYS-w9p1V1Ina6jJXcdmqxQ_WXzBW74FTYe0tejZB1Vnz83-CafA-gL7fPORYRQPLEk8FDP5DsuCaQf8/s1600/12717321_10153730247780020_4054572116708416814_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKZGWceMt5m7UGOlKzLbVeDpfEr5WUbzPf3OiOtX0SKIv_Ol5X47ST0Xq3FmLMYS-w9p1V1Ina6jJXcdmqxQ_WXzBW74FTYe0tejZB1Vnz83-CafA-gL7fPORYRQPLEk8FDP5DsuCaQf8/s320/12717321_10153730247780020_4054572116708416814_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
The zoo is really well laid out and just big enough for little people to walk round, we stayed for four hours. We took a picnic with us for the children and ate in the restaurant. The adults had a pasty meal deal for £5.00 which included a pasty, a drink and a snack. I am vegetarian and can honestly say that the vegetarian pasty was gorgeous. It was a lot more affordable than we had expected. It was clean and the service was fast. The attached gift shop is small and good value. They have some lovely items and it is not too overwhelming for little ones that want to spend some pocket money.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
We saw lots of amazing animals who didn't seem to mind the drizzling rain either. We saw the wolves, cheetah, lions and a jaguar who was spectacular. They all looked very content and healthy which was a blessing to see. The animals had a lot of space and different aspects of the habitat to entertain them. The most amazing thing for us though was seeing the bears, we thought that they would have been asleep given the cold weather but both Hayley and Fudge were awaiting their handlers who were about to feed them. They were so majestic and I really could of stayed all day just watching them. </div>

There were so many other animals that we got to see too, all of them seemed happy and very well cared for. There is a lot of construction happening at the zoo at the moment so some of the enclosures were closed but that didn't take away from our enjoyment of the day. </div>

I can honestly say that we had a brilliant day, it was very much worth the admission price. They could perhaps have had a children's outdoor play area or even an indoor softplay to make it more of a whole day out than just a morning but we certainly had no complaints at all. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I would highly recommend a visit if you are local or visiting the area. It is a great size and not as exhausting as some of the bigger zoos that we have visited. Don't let the rain put you off, the zoo is quieter and you can still see the animals. </div>

A friend of mine asked if I had ever tried to recreate Falkor in faux fur and I could not resist the challenge.<br />
I spent a good while trying to design the pattern and must admit that he has come out like a very young Falkor but I am very proud of him. His body is faux fur, his beads have been handsewn and his nose, claws, teeth and eyelids are all handsculpted from Polymer Clay. He was certainly a labour of love. I hope that you like him xxx<br />

My Crowdfunder project was a success and I am so delighted to say that the funds raised have been used to print the first 100 copies of the Tales of the Enchanted Cornlings. I could not have done any of it without the help and support of the people mentioned above. Thank you to them all, I cannot wait to see the book in print xxx </div>

<br />
I have recently finished needle felting all of the illustrations for my Cornling story. They are beautifully finished with hand embroidered details and beading.<br />
<br />
I now just need the support to get my book printed and I am offering lots of lovely rewards for my supporters too. Please take a minute to look and hopefully I can convince you that you need a Cornling in your life.<br />

<br />
When asked to have a craft stall at the local school I knew that my price points would be too high however I really did want to contribute so I decided to make some moulds that I could use to make some quick and simple cabochons.<br />
<br />
Rather than use expensive mould makers I decided to use a much cheaper and accessible material, Zubber. It is sold at most toy stores and the pack shown below was from <a href="http://www.toysrus.co.uk/toys/zubber-craft-set-charms/0079521" target="_blank">Toys'R'Us</a> and it is currently under £2.00.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8GVKMeVU1p4_6l7cDjYCjaFv-MJC10mbyCX2giGzdzULlljkZ1gW7PdBQuQiMe15ru20s7fWIY8bG1sCWJAgWxRqgNPGsSs1U3bvvh-n5dPqkZbYBCDFbAc97_EzUCP8wpuH9dXOiScs/s1600/DSCF0285.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8GVKMeVU1p4_6l7cDjYCjaFv-MJC10mbyCX2giGzdzULlljkZ1gW7PdBQuQiMe15ru20s7fWIY8bG1sCWJAgWxRqgNPGsSs1U3bvvh-n5dPqkZbYBCDFbAc97_EzUCP8wpuH9dXOiScs/s320/DSCF0285.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
It is intended for children and is incredibly easy to use as you will see in the next few photographs. You get two tubs of coloured Zubber and a white tub of the activator, two measuring scoops and a plastic plate that you can make rubber charms with (not pictured because it is not used in this tutorial). I also selected some shaped buttons from my daughters button box which I am going to use to make the moulds. They can be plastic, wood, metal, anything you can think of really that you like the shape of.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjirGbJ9X_wTAfWxasdlTPInq7JBpJjgSKA2M_oLW92sHxgDQpaq15DUefrS7QCo4sXYPOSFaATlnizZznBaHHvnMdF8EbRhYwPrlpQO25mKggkc9V_DClhWdCjWxgmOJ2XPs5fkFDXdw/s1600/DSCF0288.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjirGbJ9X_wTAfWxasdlTPInq7JBpJjgSKA2M_oLW92sHxgDQpaq15DUefrS7QCo4sXYPOSFaATlnizZznBaHHvnMdF8EbRhYwPrlpQO25mKggkc9V_DClhWdCjWxgmOJ2XPs5fkFDXdw/s320/DSCF0288.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
To activate the Zubber you need to use an equal amount of colour and white, measure them using the spoons provided. Only mix a little at a time because once they are mixed you don't have much time to work with them before they start to set.<br />

<span style="color: #0000ee;">Simply mix them together as quickly as possible until yo<span style="color: #0000ee;">u have a ball of one solid colour (this is the same process no matter what colour you <span style="color: #0000ee;">use), they will not set properly if they are not <span style="color: #0000ee;">completely mixed in. <span style="color: #0000ee;">It is pretty easy to mix because it is really soft and has an oily texture <span style="color: #0000ee;">before it sets. </span></span></span></span></span></span><br />

Press your button into the Zubber so that it goes a little higher than the edge of the button. Be sure to make sure that you CAN'T feel the button through the bottom of the Zubber because if your mould is too thin it will split at the bottom when you try to remove your clay.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjINLfOXJJbs-pBpMN_q0E8lqo_p5EwNVLM2oEDihB7yzm5WcWDlInaQGaWcMXu8JDMK-Y1oLLe6jPiR6pZ6mXRJoOZFautvWfjEyq4LOL-LpobIDbd78KzMpjCvo4FXe5yZMOu58hS-64/s1600/DSCF0297.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjINLfOXJJbs-pBpMN_q0E8lqo_p5EwNVLM2oEDihB7yzm5WcWDlInaQGaWcMXu8JDMK-Y1oLLe6jPiR6pZ6mXRJoOZFautvWfjEyq4LOL-LpobIDbd78KzMpjCvo4FXe5yZMOu58hS-64/s320/DSCF0297.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
I used the tray inside the box to hold the Zubber whilst it set. This picture shows how many moulds I made from one whole pack of Zubber. The instructions say that they should be set in ten minutes however I wanted to be sure to have as much detail as possible so I left mine to set overnight.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihFpJA_i_93hX2K-RPiA-96dxSDbc5UZQP9DzqWKTrINDN_158d3qgWVLch_iGCksIwtkcLGYvpvyptP70tvOSE9CMwocTQEss2Ek0BDjSCYJkCdj0qH8cvUFipgtW2Pt88iPImXt7nCE/s1600/DSCF0298.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihFpJA_i_93hX2K-RPiA-96dxSDbc5UZQP9DzqWKTrINDN_158d3qgWVLch_iGCksIwtkcLGYvpvyptP70tvOSE9CMwocTQEss2Ek0BDjSCYJkCdj0qH8cvUFipgtW2Pt88iPImXt7nCE/s320/DSCF0298.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
Then I simply popped the buttons out, gave them a wipe and put them away. The moulds are now ready to use with polymer clay.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvD-KS-VfnEuYNI34-pJ7K1zzNejrCH4AFPBMS2JgHIf4fMlBGv1NCAb6a9zZtfVxwSmT77gbS5TjZpqYr4KhGNawD2CYmm4mAdgajrCI-s_IVPH4XqMtAR-srKb3Gp36Ez2PA78ILuF8/s1600/DSCF0305.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvD-KS-VfnEuYNI34-pJ7K1zzNejrCH4AFPBMS2JgHIf4fMlBGv1NCAb6a9zZtfVxwSmT77gbS5TjZpqYr4KhGNawD2CYmm4mAdgajrCI-s_IVPH4XqMtAR-srKb3Gp36Ez2PA78ILuF8/s320/DSCF0305.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Fill the mould with polymer clay and be sure to push it in as firm as possible. I find that you get the best results if you squeeze the sides of the moulds too.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi68_0OIJX-UuTsOrLMVRSMxGSNBd-3noarYSmzP3kwdewFffLHcuJf_r-ZVOkyaPCCkopvnwFsqiIiyt_2WN1L4wMSsBldvX3lnmF8waY1ykgUHkKRZ28WUo7VHifPdbCuWIhejQ0KWRs/s1600/DSCF0306.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi68_0OIJX-UuTsOrLMVRSMxGSNBd-3noarYSmzP3kwdewFffLHcuJf_r-ZVOkyaPCCkopvnwFsqiIiyt_2WN1L4wMSsBldvX3lnmF8waY1ykgUHkKRZ28WUo7VHifPdbCuWIhejQ0KWRs/s320/DSCF0306.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Cut off the excess clay with a sharp blade and then gently pop out the clay from the mould and bake as per the instructions.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOenEeCB9b6a4BjhyphenhyphenLKvbiT214O9BbSaLzaJoZbrrcdiLYtSSPCBLyk_8ISGSNYng3NFHG4lzdHHH2to3aLGY9H3pOI1-7xlcKQltrUsWtQyUYnDB2Vo_N11wbuqpr8KChhDTLcoZlkD4/s1600/DSCF0309.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOenEeCB9b6a4BjhyphenhyphenLKvbiT214O9BbSaLzaJoZbrrcdiLYtSSPCBLyk_8ISGSNYng3NFHG4lzdHHH2to3aLGY9H3pOI1-7xlcKQltrUsWtQyUYnDB2Vo_N11wbuqpr8KChhDTLcoZlkD4/s320/DSCF0309.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
I added eyes and noses where appropriate with tiny pieces of clay. The photo above shows some of the clay that has been baked. You now have usable cabochons that can be quickly and easily replicated over and over again to make inexpensive but handcrafted Jewellery or art.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYGcK-X9Xs8hKRf8GW9JloPxf7fiV1ujt9kBt9LoNwBKpamM1pKNLbBQPdDGcRwAhD0RCu2QEeCRfQoWaYrVNmDCjYhifLfpR9m9EBufI8lvKom3oVCT9Ux3M71Yh0Lq-MxDj3zGk84rw/s1600/DSCF0321+copy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="475" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYGcK-X9Xs8hKRf8GW9JloPxf7fiV1ujt9kBt9LoNwBKpamM1pKNLbBQPdDGcRwAhD0RCu2QEeCRfQoWaYrVNmDCjYhifLfpR9m9EBufI8lvKom3oVCT9Ux3M71Yh0Lq-MxDj3zGk84rw/s640/DSCF0321+copy.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
And I decorated the cabochons with clay canes, 3d paint, sparkles and glitter, anything I could get my hands on really. I added them to rings and hair clips all ready for the fair and at half the price of my none moulded creations.<br />
<br />
I hope that this tutorial helps and possibly inspires, Love Sam xxx<br />

I am a bookworm, I always have been. I fell in love with the written word when I was a very small child, my first love was Mrs.Tiggy-Winkle by Beatrix Potter. I dreamt of midnight feasts in Mallory Towers, the wonderful stories by Enid Blyton made me want to live in her world. I found a passion for fairies at the age of 9 when I first read William Shakespeare's A Mid Summers Night Dream and I spent my teen years ploughing through the many works of Danielle Steel, my favourite being No Greater Love. I discovered the classics and my love of Wuthering Heights will never fade. <br />
<br />
I have never stopped reading although my tastes sometimes change. I always have at least one book on my bedside table along with my kindle, I am rarely without a story and love a good series. I read classics and modern, they both have a lot to tell us. I love to read stories that inspired movies that I have enjoyed too. <br />
<br />
I can talk and talk about the stories I read, they become a part of your consciousness. I have decided to type my thoughts out about some of the books that I have read and hope that they may lead you to some new adventures between their pages. I will try my best not to give away any spoilers and will give you my honest and open opinion, no facts at all simply my opinion. I hope that you will enjoy this literary journey with me. If you have any book recommendations that you think I ought to read then please do comment I would love to hear from you. If you have any questions please ask. xxx<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: black;">My lovely Mother-in-law gave me a Tjanting set for my birthday, she was unaware that you needed extra dyes, but no fear I decided to try "Fake Batik" (I'm not sure if that is actually a thing but I did not use the traditional methods to dye the fabrics) </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: black;">I decided to try decorating some plain white t-shirts that I had bought for my son to wear this summer and he had refused to wear because they were boring! </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: black;"> </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
I drew out designs onto the backs of cereal boxes in black so that I would be able to see them through the fabric. <br /><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDwlk5neihtzdJa3_HjAzGSeGaAnwqAEeuiOP4UNl66wD7JeZU00Lrrt4_mPjhuiDs56leViHexpzT4f_QIyUwZt8eXp2lXYY9p-ERytKJsQtEonsscM-1GiWpP-zZPKSG63VubzhAq_M/s1600/DSCF0002.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDwlk5neihtzdJa3_HjAzGSeGaAnwqAEeuiOP4UNl66wD7JeZU00Lrrt4_mPjhuiDs56leViHexpzT4f_QIyUwZt8eXp2lXYY9p-ERytKJsQtEonsscM-1GiWpP-zZPKSG63VubzhAq_M/s320/DSCF0002.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
I didn't want the melted wax to go onto the back of the t-shirt so the card acted as a barrier between the layers. Even if you want to free hand a design onto a t-shirt you will need to place something between the layers or parts of the design will go through to the back.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1SuttfQ3McvVOaGft77ycWMG0V7zGwbnzg4MTiwGH0McG8XxsIpsyRMnKGTVbSKR-JkVmPKhsAzs4ETVL2KD6FleNwJCVoUqYWzviusiiMG_zjaN1Ccn4SZQXJdGYlfDQw84SjnXUOQ0/s1600/DSCF0003.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1SuttfQ3McvVOaGft77ycWMG0V7zGwbnzg4MTiwGH0McG8XxsIpsyRMnKGTVbSKR-JkVmPKhsAzs4ETVL2KD6FleNwJCVoUqYWzviusiiMG_zjaN1Ccn4SZQXJdGYlfDQw84SjnXUOQ0/s320/DSCF0003.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
I filled the tjanting cup halfway with tiny wax pellets that were supplied with the kit (my kit is by Crelando if you wanted to get the same, please follow the instructions from your own set) and heated the wax until it was completely liquid. I placed a scrap of fabric under the spout in case any leaked out but the stand is designed so that the cup is tilted backwards and the wax does not go near the spout unless you tip it forward so always use the stand! I also used this scrap to try drawing a few little dots before I tested it on the t-shirt, i wanted to be sure that the wax would soak into the fabric without ruining it. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjr1RIPGskqQ2VzJfUtLm-rFRL0lGjd3mHlC0nabvhjWb9PyTXppwhm0tRX2AhxnV_OJ97yAcYPdC6OIWA9zBMKswlttb3zZ00Uv41LUaMhoePH4skmS6NeilIJYPujTQxX5i6cr90iY9I/s1600/DSCF0004.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjr1RIPGskqQ2VzJfUtLm-rFRL0lGjd3mHlC0nabvhjWb9PyTXppwhm0tRX2AhxnV_OJ97yAcYPdC6OIWA9zBMKswlttb3zZ00Uv41LUaMhoePH4skmS6NeilIJYPujTQxX5i6cr90iY9I/s320/DSCF0004.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
The t-shirt fabric was ideal to put the wax onto, it is a tricky process and you have to work quite quickly to get the lines neat. when you hesitate you get blobs that bleed further on the fabric. It is like drawing with a very long pen and does take a lot of getting used to. You could perhaps practice drawing with water to get the hang of the tjanting tool first? <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_yT1hi3THtyZvKWGiFQaIOZsMvZ5VTI4SAk6GOB2cuKbxWn6vVm8-75mE4-Bpa46vIHpTj9QcUORSMQKOrUVlKu6Fh4zk-cfWp0TjYEdMvFe6tT8TzxsnWm7xUVezpmOQJ7AlkoXpjAE/s1600/DSCF0007.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_yT1hi3THtyZvKWGiFQaIOZsMvZ5VTI4SAk6GOB2cuKbxWn6vVm8-75mE4-Bpa46vIHpTj9QcUORSMQKOrUVlKu6Fh4zk-cfWp0TjYEdMvFe6tT8TzxsnWm7xUVezpmOQJ7AlkoXpjAE/s320/DSCF0007.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
I managed to draw my design on and quickly learnt that bold lines are great but small details end in big smudges. Also be careful that you are not touching the bottom of the tjanting tool onto the wax that you have already applied, I made this mistake and it smudged the bit I had already done AND possibly more annoyingly, the wax gathered on the underneath of the tjanting cup and then dripped onto the t-shirt (the annoying blobs to the right of the dinosaur).<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEPWMt3vUfZ3yYnJyqG80wF0BwYPN33kg_UDWC8oQDyOp-iAsLSBo4waOkbFqSI2f6DpdcpiXbe1CqMP8bjAmWiKHL8sufKtc80aGBE239OhatF3oVb7-kpLXRzDfE3Kfp4FUyQEFjfHs/s1600/DSCF0008.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEPWMt3vUfZ3yYnJyqG80wF0BwYPN33kg_UDWC8oQDyOp-iAsLSBo4waOkbFqSI2f6DpdcpiXbe1CqMP8bjAmWiKHL8sufKtc80aGBE239OhatF3oVb7-kpLXRzDfE3Kfp4FUyQEFjfHs/s320/DSCF0008.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Once the wax was completely dry (it only takes a few minutes) i turned the cereal box card over and put it back in because I was concerned that whilst using water and inks the pen I had used to draw my designs originally would seep through onto the front of the tshirt. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiE4rFlgIc_hKziweaTEyJ51cQlmOzybBxA3DR1e5VrOfgP1uIqXgc2GWQjYzgIsRnHlGaNTBZqMmy-6IFDLMWwD7zZ5mn7B7_cT8Gxedi-2GtEA5njnGse2Cn8PAx7SBepel6LoDNMofc/s1600/DSCF0009.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiE4rFlgIc_hKziweaTEyJ51cQlmOzybBxA3DR1e5VrOfgP1uIqXgc2GWQjYzgIsRnHlGaNTBZqMmy-6IFDLMWwD7zZ5mn7B7_cT8Gxedi-2GtEA5njnGse2Cn8PAx7SBepel6LoDNMofc/s320/DSCF0009.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
I used Inktense blocks and a paintbrush and tried to get a sort of smudged camouflage effect. You have to make sure that you completely surround your wax drawing with ink. Anywhere that has wax on should stay clear when the wax is removed. <br />

I decided to be a bit more controlled with the monkey but still wanted it to have that unique Batik feel to it so I didn't want to be too perfect with it. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCgGC0pTozk146ChLJVNWLVUThN032tGUApEAFRBPZqhG24bPl7t1Sf2SChHrgZQ6FQca_LDPSNsqxlMyrPTObbfJbPQpGyZhcm2Vi_HllpJW9j2-4p-o3XtTqOPWxNXBrkG3SN5rVyVc/s1600/DSCF0011.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCgGC0pTozk146ChLJVNWLVUThN032tGUApEAFRBPZqhG24bPl7t1Sf2SChHrgZQ6FQca_LDPSNsqxlMyrPTObbfJbPQpGyZhcm2Vi_HllpJW9j2-4p-o3XtTqOPWxNXBrkG3SN5rVyVc/s320/DSCF0011.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
I left the ink to dry completely overnight before attempting to remove the wax. This was the part that I was most nervous about. I used an iron and some newspaper to soak up the wax. I placed it all onto a tea towel so that I didn't ruin the worktop. I folded up a piece of newspaper and placed it inside the t-shirt, between the layers to make sure that I didn't have wax marks left on the back of the t-shirt. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgMnDr6GfVN9k58i92FUxikzalcQemxdtZnZKywR4xouDXwU8-BmqHcFgO6d2kl6rhziMYlElmvzbQMeUPhsD4CffB27jBTn4OP0qQVH8nTzpiGhf5OfA2PfCH2u-e347b1_qBiV_a9VF0/s1600/DSCF0014.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgMnDr6GfVN9k58i92FUxikzalcQemxdtZnZKywR4xouDXwU8-BmqHcFgO6d2kl6rhziMYlElmvzbQMeUPhsD4CffB27jBTn4OP0qQVH8nTzpiGhf5OfA2PfCH2u-e347b1_qBiV_a9VF0/s320/DSCF0014.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
I placed the newspaper on top and ironed it with a normal household iron on hot with NO STEAM that is very important because it could make the newsprint transfer to your t-shirt. This is how the dinosaur came out. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkCOdTb9TMRnGcO_eycKJScXyLqzrPq-6fmXkZostAW2sX2jnIrqeX95ek8VBIJl7CkCLFlQWBh4gQwRP5EWzWSZ1eKBO5Jw1_2i-tfaJhlOvQqJ2kVnlEqxODVj4wbgsI4mELcAN-lf8/s1600/DSCF0016.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkCOdTb9TMRnGcO_eycKJScXyLqzrPq-6fmXkZostAW2sX2jnIrqeX95ek8VBIJl7CkCLFlQWBh4gQwRP5EWzWSZ1eKBO5Jw1_2i-tfaJhlOvQqJ2kVnlEqxODVj4wbgsI4mELcAN-lf8/s320/DSCF0016.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
I don't think that I applied enough wax to the dinosaur, I should have gone over the areas where the wax look thin but it was a trial and I still think it came out like a dinosaur hiding. I think I may have soaked it too much in water too because the ink seems to have seeped below the wax. I think in future I would give the fabric a small spritz of water before I start to paint it so that I need less water.<br />
<br />
When ironing onto the newspaper you can tell if you have ironed that whole image because you can see the wax outline come through the print. I used around 3 sheets of newspaper for each t-shirt to be sure all of the wax came off of the fabric. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

The monkey and cross bananas came out much better than the dinosaur, I think it might have been because I used less water when painting with the inks. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4UOmLYgex3ZmK8TYLUwqvoDi_Z9FlQgdmrRrzf9eyI0wqNhpygkeL0g0-VQTLJm_pHoHqqUP7pDZZSfs57cC59js8U4isxqLWCSMcg7VhRrZWDbsobrisMXhWfe5FVQbf69W0-4ujuZk/s1600/DSCF0018.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4UOmLYgex3ZmK8TYLUwqvoDi_Z9FlQgdmrRrzf9eyI0wqNhpygkeL0g0-VQTLJm_pHoHqqUP7pDZZSfs57cC59js8U4isxqLWCSMcg7VhRrZWDbsobrisMXhWfe5FVQbf69W0-4ujuZk/s320/DSCF0018.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
I didn't think that the monkey looked quite right as it was so I added some little pupils to the eyes. You can add more and more ink where you would like it, you can also add another layer of wax and paint again if you would like to layer your design but I liked how it came out once the eyes were finished.<br />

The t-shirts were supposed to be for Harry but Lilly took a shine to the dinosaur one and since she is so tiny it fit her nicely! What do you think? These two are really happy with them. I had a lot of fun creating them and definitely think that I will be doodling more designs to try in the future. <br />

They wasted no time in playing roaring dinosaur and cheeky monkey! They do make me laugh and have given me requests for their next t-shirts already. If you decide to try this technique I would love you to share it in the comments section so that I can see it. <div style="text-align: center;">
This little movie was made with the help of my beautiful 7 year old daughter, it shows all of the Cornlings that I have needlefelted so far and tells the story of their origin. I have more Cornlings coming in the very near future but I really hope that you like the ones that I have made so far xxx</div>
